Samsung Engineering announced that it has signed a $ 500 million contract with Long Son Petrochemicals Co., Ltd. (LSP), a subsidiary of SCG Chemicals, to build the Polyolefins factory. The contract was signed at SCG Chemicals, Thailand. The project is located on Long Son Island, 30 km north of Vung Tau City and about 70 km from Ho Chi Minh City. The contract was signed between LSP General Director Thammasak Sethaudom and Samsung Engineering President and CEO Sungan Choi, with the participation of SCG Chemicals Cholanat Yanaranop Chairman, Somchai Wangwattanapanich Vice Chairman.
 
Samsung Engineering will build a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) factory with a capacity of 450 thousand tons / year and a Polypropylene (PP) factory with a capacity of 400 tons / year. Both are scheduled to be completed in 2022 and will be the first LSP plant in Vietnam. The scope of work includes Reactor, Extruder, and bagging machine, building Subsation and Cooling Tower.
 
HDPE and Long Son PP factories are the 15th factory of Samsung Engineering in Vietnam. In the past, Samsung has built several hydrocarbon production plants in Vietnam such as fertilizer, PVC and Gas plants. In the world, Samsung has built 11 Polyethylene factories and 9 Polypropylene factories.
